Av provides physiotherapy treatment for muscular, joint and sporting injuries as well as liaising with our specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist regarding complex clinical case management.
He holds a Doctor of Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne and Bachelor of Human Movement/Management from the University of Ballarat and enjoys both working with sportspeople and in research.
Av has experience working with amateur and elite cricketers as Club Physiotherapist with Footscray Cricket Club since 2013. He also works as a Cricket Academy Physiotherapist with Cricket Victoria and has travelled as the Team Physiotherapist to the U17 and U19 National Championships in 2016 (Qld/SA) and 2017 (Qld / Tas). He was also fortunate to work in the Futures League with Victoria and a tour match against the West Indies in 2015.
In 2016 he joined the medical team at Melbourne United, which represents Victoria in the National Basketball League (NBL). Av is also involved with the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Emergency Department Victorian Committee since 2015, primarily helping with professional development for emergency related physiotherapy.
Av has a research role with Latrobe University, helping the Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre (SEMRC) in their quest to understand anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) rehabilitation.
His caseload includes paediatrics, post-surgery rehabilitation, neurological and general musculoskeletal presentations. He uses a range of treatment techniques including dry needling, exercise prescription, clinical Pilates, soft tissue therapy and sports taping.
He is passionate about communicating effectively with patients, reaching their specific goals and preventing injury occurrence. He regularly attends state and national conferences to keep up-to-date with current research and rehabilitation interventions.
On the weekend Av is actively involved with his local community in a mentoring role for underprivileged children. He also enjoys regular resistance training and running.
